Project Overview

The historic Portoviejo Cathedral stands as a cultural and architectural landmark in Ecuador. TPK Lighting was commissioned to provide a highly customized facade lighting system that respects the building's classic heritage while introducing a vibrant, modern nighttime identity.

This project utilizes a sophisticated combination of high-performance LED wall washers and architectural floodlights. The meticulously positioned wall washers highlight the building's classic facade and majestic twin towers with vibrant dynamic colors, while precisely aimed floodlights accentuate the domes, arched windows, and intricate sculptural details, turning this historic church into a glowing landmark of the city.

Engineering Approach

The combination of these premium architectural lighting fixtures delivers clean, layered illumination that successfully bridges traditional architectural charm with modern lighting technology.

  • Facade Washing: LWW-OP-W75 wall washers (60°) are installed to deliver a smooth, uniform color gradient across the twin towers and main exterior walls.
  • Detail Accentuation: SP-DKP-F170 architectural floodlights are precisely aimed at the upper domes and arched windows to create a deep, 3D visual hierarchy of the historical elements.
  • Intelligent Control: The entire lighting array is synchronized via the robust DMX512 protocol, ensuring perfect color consistency and dynamic scene management for the cathedral.
